watching aria now :D its so slow and laid back haha but heartwarming in the slice of life way! anw only seen two episodes so yup shall see what shall come of it ^^

Hehe im back with more annoying rants abt anime ^^ and hopefully sth else too :)
Haha if you liked Toradora!, and ur a girl, ud probably LOVE to try this: LOVELY COMPLEX. its the shoujo version sorta ^^ if ur a guy ud probably love to try it too btw heh shoujoshounen no diff.
Anw lovcom is what i shall rant abt today. today is reserved for VOICES OF A DISTANT STAR. 25 minutes, only 1 episodes, 1 short ova but it is stunning and it achieves what full length movies seldom do :) it dint move me to tears yet, but still it was super sweet :) the toradora kinda sweet haha.

rs is over :) haha was funn.
anw finished rumbling hearts (aka kgne or kimi ga notozu eien - not sure if i got tt right). anw its good, but sorta mature in its theme. so yea wont recommend it heh and wont spam abt it.
BUT ive started on lovely complex which is <3 at first sight!
ahh anw. hols have started :DDD omgomg it would be so awesome if we dint have cl hw/cca haha. can slack at home every single dayy! right and psl training and what not! so pfft its gonna be busy again! :O my msn is hanging :( later, folks!

Air.
Posting again cos I just finished AIR. Ok i know i shldnt try to review another anime, but air was awesome too :(
I'll be short :) Air is a rly unique anime, in that it won't win you over just like that. You might get bored blablabla. I did. It all depends on the mood that you watch it in. In a normal mood, you won't feel anything. But even so, it will manage to touch you in Episode 6 at least! And of course 11 and 12 were tearfests again. Seeing as to that this is made by the same company as Clannad, its not surprising rly. But interesting, the tearfests are different! I definitely felt VERY touched, but i dint cry cos i watched them like i said with that normal mood. after watching it and getting touched, i watched the recap episode and the recap episode finally did the job.
The trick to watching Air is that you need to watch it sorta with some form of sadness or nostalgia already in you. Then it will be magic :) And plus, the ending is LOADS better than clannad ending, cos it doesnt attempt to smooth itself over by force. It's a tragedy and it doesnt try to commercialize itself just by giving the happy ending. Though now that I think of it, sighh the tragic ending also means I can't get over it like i did for clannad ._. (no catharsis :O)
Characters were alright, but they still dint get as layered as i would have liked. Tho haruka was good :) and misuzu. i loved the characterization for those two, especially the way they explained why misuzu was so straightforwardly trying to talk to the white haired guy. he's a main character but i cant rmb his name >.< cos haruka came out more as the main character :) HARUKA FTW! did i mention she's pretty hot too ;P
Complaints are that it switched main characters rly abruptly in the middle i was like wtf just happened!? And also that uh its sorta lonely, the way the town is completely empty except for the characters. (i.e. no bg ppl). And also, the soundtrack isnt too great this time, though the music when -spoiler- misuzu dies -spoiler over- was great and fitting!

clannad.
i feel sorta bad to turn this blog into some anime review thingum, but bear with me cos i absolutely HAVE to devote one long post to this awesome anime.
CLANNAD ~AFTER STORY~
i don't know where to start. ill talk abt clannad first :) the first season!
Clannad started off disappointing. At that time I've just finished toradora, so I was sorta expecting something like toradora, the kind of warm feeling :) but i dint get that from clannad first few episodes, so yea i was sorta disappointed. but the humor was rly good ~~~clannad is hilarious~~~, so i kept going and episode 7-8 was the turning point! btw did i mention clannad is funny? it rly is hehe the comic relief characters (*cough* sunohara and fuuko *cough*) do their job SUPER WELL, but even they develop and u get to see their serious sides! :)
then i could finally see why clannad gets all the fuss it does. 7 and 8 builds up the suspense and sadness to critical levels, and finally releases it all in 9 like floodwater from a burst dam. its incredible the way it makes u cry. and instead of the touch and go that most animes do, this one keeps at it again and again and it beats the shit out of you until you die. ok bad analogy.
point is, its rly good at making u cry. so in episode 9 of clannad, i cried as much as i did for 24 episodes of fate stay night.
of course, clannad doesn't stop there. it goes on in numerous arcs, and the only complaint i have of it is that if u think about it its sorta formulaic, but like i said, IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT. cos ud be too busy being touched to realise it. the characters are sorta stereotyped, and the arc develops them, after which they won't develop again, but it doesn't matter, cos throughout the entire story two characters develop like shit crazy. duh the main characters! and btw the tomoyo ova was AWESOME made me cry again cos tomoyo is my fav character ^^ --GOD U PPL JUST NEED TO SEE HER IN THE MONTAGE IN AFTER STORY EPISODE 22.
ohya one more thing. clannad imaginary world stuff sorta turned me off cos it dint explain it so i was like wtf whats this random crap doing here. but ya it surely did add to the mystery department.
so now we go on to clannad ~after story~. after story cannot be described easily. it at once shows u all the joys possible in the world, then it takes it away from you, and gives u all the sorrows possible in the world. the first half is sorta like clannad, its moving and touching and all, and if the producers were to have stopped there, clannad would still have matched with toradora in my books. but they don't.
they then go on to write episodes 13 to 22, which is definitely not sth that any anime would dare to venture out and do. Now clannad starts as a school life romance right, so if school has ended, and the main characters have already gotten together, what is there to watch? that's what i thought, but no clannad after story then becomes a full blown slice of life. -SPOILERS AHEAD- They got married, Nagisa died giving birth to Ushio, and later Ushio dies too. Life ain't too easy on Tomoya huh. Well actually, it's alright even if you read these spoilers. I will guarantee you'll still cry when you watch the anime ^^ The very THOUGHT of Nagisa and Ushio both dying and leaving Tomoya alone made me go depressed ._. And well truthfully at the start i dint even rly like Nagisa.. Clannad must be the only anime so far which has made me love a character i dint like. (not even toradora mind. i disliked kitamura the whole way thru and even the half naked santa dint change tt ._.)
~SPOILERS OVER~ Anw. I guess I haven't been able to describe after story very well. So here I'll sum up: In Toradora!, there was never an episode without a warm line. In Clannad ~After Story~ (second half), there was never a line that wasn't warm. Eventually, watching Clannad will bring you into a mood where the smallest thing will make you gush honey, or tears. It's the magic of the anime. Finally, Clannad brings you to the crazy and incredible episodes 18 to 22, where the producers decide that there hasnt been enough tears shed, and they thus created this 5-episode tearfest which is just tearjerker after tearjerker after tearjerker. yep they use everything they can think of: father-daughter relationship, father-son relationship, mother-in-law-father-in-law relationship, husband-wife, girl-garbage doll (WTF!?) relationship blablabla. You wouldn't rly believe its possible to cry so many times within that short timespan, but it's actually within human limits.
And if Clannad ~After Story~ could ever be described in one word (it can't), I guess the closest word will be simply: HUMAN. After Story reminded me of all it meant to be a human and to feel.
After Story was so good, it even made me cry about the stuff in the imaginary world, despite that fact that like barely 1 min is spent talking abt the plot there in every 3 episodes or so. Btw, that's not saying I understood the imaginary world stuff and how its related to the real world. Yup thats another complaint! THE ENDING SUCKS. Not only is it evangelion-style (meaning abstract, defying all logic, and totally impossible to understand ~they call this 'open to interpretation'), it's a fairytale everybody is happy ending ._. i mean, i don't complain, it would mean i get over clannad much faster, but still.. if they just stuck with the tragedy and ended there it would be so much more realistic, and so much more capable of being 'slice of life', or 'human'. But still, the catharsis is DEFINITELY achieved! man i rly understand catharsis now ALL the built up tension/loneliness (i felt super lonely while watching the show somehow)/sadness is all washed away GOD! ~the sky is bright again :O
This has been a super long post, but I shall continue ranting ^^
Music, sound are AWESOME. Without it clannad would never be such a success. And animation was rly good too, the whole 3-d effects all over the scenes are unimaginably great~~
So the final section is a warning to you all. If you take pride in your manhood, don't bother watching clannad. You'll cry ._. I guarantee you that. I mean all the reviews i've read so far include parts about kleenex, even the guy reviewers. so yea.

toradora. again.
Have I mentioned that toradora is awesome. uve gotta raise it to the power of 5 or sth. awesomeawesomeawesomeawesomeawesomeawesomeawesomeawesome. more than 5.
GOD. episode 19 has to be the best episode ive seen so far everrr :D but then again i havent seen much so yea.. and i havent finished the show there could be better ones to come! but omgomgomg the ending of 19 is the bestt! its touching DUHDUHDUHDUH but not in any way vulgar or blatant or anythingg! it continues in its subtle way that doesnt rly make u cry, but gives u that sugar running honey thingg! btw i watched that scene 3 times hehehe ^^
OMGOMGOMG i cant stop ranting abt how great the series is! cos like throughout so far theres only ever been 1 episode tt i dint LOVE (15 or sth), but even then its not cos of the plot or anything at all its only cos i dint like the cahracter that the episode concentrated on haha. AND EVEN THEN there was a nice stellar (hehe literally too ;P some constellations thingum) scenee inside! gosh.
haha now i sound rly obsessedd ^^ and unlike ytd theres nth else to post abt coscos --u guessed it! i spent my whole day on this ;)

toradora
theres only one word to describe toradora. omg its simply AWESOME. seen abt 10 episodes, and so far every single episode has been able to be different from the previous episodes, yet always awesome. its so simple in its premise, and the script is rlyrly simple too. no mushy stuff, but the simplest of sentences are manipulated into sth heartwarming. Not in the make you cry, tearjerking way that most directors tend to resort to, but in the simple way that makes you truly appreciate love :)
characters got awesome chemistry, and each character is sorta flat (except for ami! i cant get her at all yet.), but it still works out damn awesomely cos of the way they interact with one another. nothing is ever stated, everything is hinted at subtly, but realistically, and clearlyy!
god its only the soundtrack thats a bit of a letdown :( but the voice acting is perfectly awesome so its fineee ^^ omg.

haha i sound like a crazily obsessed person pfft.
anw :) went to lan today for 3 hourss. and discovered this left 4 dead new game thingy. unique gameplay, sorta awesome! ~haha tho its rly scary to be covered in boomer vomittt :( and its rlyrly co-op oriented haha :) screened matthias and managed to backstab ppl in cs hehe ;P
haha gosh exams period are super slack luhhh! :) even tho i keep feeling like i flunked sth -.- haha who caresss~ no effort put in = i deserve it = i shldnt feel bad abt itt :D
